Toftegården Guesthouse have been using the My ePostcard platform since 2020 and was part of a pilot project to test the idea of electronic postcards ultimately leading to the full scale development of the My ePostcard product. Toftegården is a good example of how a tourism business can work with and benefit from a solution like this.

Our guests love it and being part of the pilot project to test the e-postcard solution at Toftegården was a great success.

Visitor app and distribution

Toftegården has designed the app with a color theme used at the Toftegården farm and is using the Danish language as the default language. They have 30 e-postcards in total in the solution with ca 20% of the e-postcards being of Toftegården Guesthouse and the remaining 80% being a mix of Skagen and “fun” e-postcards e.g a bike e-postcard, a drink mix e-postcard and a couple of romantic e-postcards.

Toftegården has tested and used a lot of different distribution methods to try to get as many guests sending e-postcards as possible. They also use the reward of a free cup of coffee after a guest has sent an e-postcard and assess that the reward has increased the number of guests sending e-postcards.

The image shows 2 flyers placed in rooms and common areas. They also use the TV and information folders in the rooms to show information and QR codes to their guests.

You get the best results when the My ePostcard solution is marketed heavily in many places with the end goal of getting as many visitors to send e-postcards as possible.

Results

The My ePostcard solution is an effective solution in more ways than one and is beneficial for the tourism business itself and also for the sender and recipient of the e-postcard.

Toftegården get direct and indirect results using My ePostcard. The direct results are more guests i.e guests that “found” Toftegården via an e-postcard and subsequently went on to book a stay at Toftegården as well as marketing and brand promotion, every e-postcard sent equals more exposure and awareness of the tourism business.

The bottom line for us is, we get more guests when using My ePostcard as a tool in our marketing toolkit.

The indirect results are the benefits for the sender and recipient of the e-postcard. The sender share their experiences with family and friends, it´s a fun and rewarding process to find a nice e-postcard and write a well thought out note to someone you care about. For the recipient, it´s a great feeling to get a e-postcard from someone close to you.

Our guests are thrilled they can share a bit of their holiday with loved ones at home. They also like the nostalgia of it, everyone loves sending physical postcards but it´s unfortunately a thing of the past. My ePostcard successfully uses that nostalgia to its advantage with electronic postcards.

Toftegården Guesthouse usage statistics 2021:
  • 28% of guests sent one or multiple e-postcards.
  • 89% of the sent e-postcards were e-postcards picturing the local area (Skagen), 8% were e-postcards picturing Toftegården Guesthouse and 3% were “fun” e-postcards.
  • The most popular channel was Facebook Messenger followed by SMS.
  • Toftegården got 13 new reservations from persons that had previously received an e-postcard*. The new reservations more than 2 times over repaid the subscription fees paid for the My ePostcard solution for the year 2021.

*Toftegården use a post stay e-mail asking guests for feedback and one of the questions is, “How did you find us?” and this is how they get statistics on how many new guests they get via e-postcards.
